Blogging, Interrupted

I don’t know how Mommy Bloggers make time to blog once their baby starts to walk. (Am I breaking some kind of 4th wall by acknowledging myself as a mommy blogger? Whatever.) My free time disappeared with a POP! as soon as Noah started walking.

Oh yeah. Noah started walking! I was lucky enough to get a video on the day he started walking with support.

Now he walks 100% independently.

And that’s all he wants to do.

So all I have time to do is chase after him. It’s exhausting and it’s great at the same time. I find myself fantasizing about him being older, say 6 or 7, so that he can play on his own without me feeling the need to shadow him just in case he decides to, I don’t know, trip over his own feet and fall head first into a table.

It may look small here, but there was blood involved. BLOOD I TELL YOU.

I don’t want to wish my time away though. I’m trying to relish every moment I spend with my boy. Every babble, every squeal, every fall, every laugh, every snuggle, every hair pull, every messy meal. Everything.

I had a great Christmas. I didn’t get into the Christmas spirit until the weekend before the holiday and by the time I was ready to dig in, it was over! Still great though. Grandma Margaret, my cousin Sharon, and Robbie conspired to get me a Nexus 7. They surprised me with it during our Bowling Green Christmas. I had no idea what was going on. Everyone was opening their gifts and I was really intent on herding Noah and trying to keep him contained to our corner of the living room and trying to get him interested in opening presents. Robbie kept insisting that I open one of my presents, but I was too far up Noah’s butt to pick up what Robbie was putting down. He essentially had to shove my gift into my hand and make me open it. It was such a great surprise — I wasn’t expecting it all! I’d been telling Robbie that I wanted a Nexus, but he just played it off whenever I mentioned it. He usually has trouble keeping his mouth shut when it comes to presents, but he didn’t utter a peep about this one. I was really touched that they all went to such lengths to get me something that I wanted. But I shouldn’t expect anything less from such a wonderful family.

To top it all off Robbie bought me a Nikon Coolpix P510 for Christmas! It takes mind blowing photos.

Robbie took this, but he used my camera and possession is 9/10ths of the law supposedly, so basically I took this.

Although I received generous and thoughtful gifts from all of my loved ones, the holiday break was great because I got to spend it with my family. I’m grateful for the time I had with everyone. My year ended and began on a great note.

I am recovering from a brief bout with the flu. This is my first time getting the flu and I hope it’s my last. Last Wednesday it hit me out of no where. I was at work and got through the majority of my day completely normal, but about 3:00 I was suddenly stricken with extreme body aches and body shivers. It was an unusually warm day and the thermostat read 75 degrees, but I was freezing and couldn’t stop shaking. I recognized my symptoms as typical flu symptoms, but I couldn’t believe how fast they hit me. It literally came on out of no where and seemed to affect me instantly. I left work and went to my mom’s because she lives near by. I couldn’t drive home because I felt too weak. She bundled me in blankets and I laid down and fell asleep for a couple of hours. Sleep was my only escape it seemed like. The body aches and the shivers were terrible.

I didn’t feel better when I woke up, but I wanted to go home. I wanted to be in my own bed. I live 45 minutes away from my work area, but my nap energized me  just enough to make the drive. I got home and went to bed almost immediately. I think I slept for almost 12 hours in between waking up with nausea and cold sweats. It lasted for 3 days, but now it’s Sunday and I feel so much better. I never want to go through that again.
